Flashpoint

Without doubt, one of the most rewarding shows ever produced by Singing Tooth Productions.

Produced in association with ROC Creative (a registered charity providing opportunities for adults with learning disabilities), the event showcased drama, dance, art, photography and film work made by ROC Creative artists and performers over the last 12 months.
The collaborative work was the first-of-its-kind innovative arts project featuring people with learning disabilities from across the region.

ROC Creative first met the cast and crew from Singing Tooth Productions on 3rd April 2009 after a performance of “Musicals in Motion” (1) at the Palace Theatre, Paignton. They wanted to produce a show of their own that would surprise, entertain but above all else, change the common misconceptions regarding people with learning difficulties and Down’s Syndrome.

“Musicals in Motion’s” (1) huge 24sqm rear projection screen and electric lighting effects could certainly enhance the show however, over the coming months, Singing Tooth Productions took an active role in all aspects of the production.

CGI backdrops and videos were produced and a “baby step” approach was taken over the six months to enable the performers to work with the screen, sound and lights and to become stars in their own right on the night.

Flashpoint was performed to sell-out audiences at the Palace theatre in Paignton on October 30th and 31st 2009.

The performers truly stole the show and in our belief, changed the way people with learning difficulties were viewed. Their talents, hard work and sheer determination are to be commended.

Flashpoint is due to return in January 2011 and Singing Tooth Productions still and will continue to take an active role within ROC Creative.
